Strategic customer role for GFG Group Chief Technology Officer

September 2006

GFG Group Director and Chief Technology Officer Bill Crocker has been appointed to the new and expanded role of Director, Payment Solutions.

GFG Group Chief Executive Anthony Howard said that in addition to his existing role as Chief Technology Officer, Bill Crocker will have a new focus on working directly with customers to give insights on the new opportunities and new market forces that convergence is driving through the global payments market.

"Bill will work at a strategic level with customers, helping them understand how convergence is changing the market, discussing high level strategy, and giving them the context within which to make the best informed decisions around new products and new services," Howard said.

"As the lead architect of GFG:UniCARD, and a conceptual leader in the converged payments solution now winning international awards for Smart Communications in the Phillippines, Bill Crocker has unique experience, and the credibility and the vision to work with customers at this level, adding value to their wider business strategies."

Prior to joining GFG Group in 1988, Bill Crocker managed card operation systems and data processing - and provided strategic direction on automation - for AMEX New Zealand. This led to a successful consulting career, specialising in credit card system design and applications of smart card technology. At GFG Group his customer consulting assignments spanned technical consultancy, implementation management, credit card industry research, banking seminars, critical review of credit card operation and advice on automation planning. Today, he is responsible for strategic development of GFG products, while still undertaking major consulting projects for GFG clients.
